Heat Not Working
“The heat in our 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was not working and it needed the u-joints replaced, so we brought it to Last Chance Auto Repair on the recommendation of a friend. Let's face it, no matter kind of high praise I may hear about a mechanic, I will always approach my first visit with a sense of dread and skepticism. I don't know THAT much about cars and I'm not made of money, so it is going to take quite a bit to gain my trust. This being said, I am pleased to report that my LCAR experience was every bit as good as my friend said it would be! What really stood out was the superior customer service. Sherri was pleasant and efficient in taking down my information and concerns about the car, and made sure I knew up front what their labor rate was (they even have a sign hung up stating this information). I hadn't previously experienced this kind of transparency with an auto repair shop, and it was much appreciated. She told me they would get back to me promptly with a diagnosis, and not start working on the vehicle without my consent. A few hours later I received a call from Ron and he confirmed what I already knew about the need for a u-joint replacement. With regards to the heater, he told me that the problem could be remedied by removing the core and soaking it in radiator flush. This was a pleasant surprise as the dealer had said the heater core would need to be replaced. Ron stated that the soaking procedure was not something most places would do and I believe him. When it came time to pick up and pay the next evening I dealt with Corry, Ron's son, as everyone else left early to attend some continuing education classes. Corry continued the top notch customer service in taking the time to educate me on exactly how my final billing amount was determined. He expressed a genuine concern in making sure I felt the price was fair and my overall experience satisfactory, which it was! I am very happy to have found a reliable mechanic, and will certainly be returning for next maintenance or repair job.”

“I had a great experience with Last Chance Auto Repair. I have never needed a real auto shop until now. Up until now, my dad was my mechanic, since I drove newer cars that didn't need more than regular maintenance. I didn't even know the first thing about calling a tow truck. Who do I call? Where do they take my car? My husband's car wouldn't start on a Tuesday morning. After replacing the battery, the car still would not start. On Wednesday morning, I called Last Chance, who has their own towing service. By Wednesday afternoon, tow truck driver Zach had picked up the car. By Thursday afternoon, I spoke with Sheri who quoted me exactly what the problem was and the price. She followed up with a second phone call to tell me that, in order to replace the starter, they had to remove and replace something to get to the starter. The heads up was much appreciated; I like that I can trust this place to contact me before ringing up a bill in my name. I didn't hear from anyone all day Friday, so I called on Saturday afternoon to investigate. I spoke with Ron, whom I spoke to during several other phone calls, but I could tell by his tone that he was definitely distracted and busy. There's a reason he works with cars and not people. Don't let his dry humor or shortness deter you from getting your car fixed here. The car was ready to pick up on Saturday, so we drove over. The garage is tiny, and it seems that there aren't a ton of employees, so if you're ringing their phone off the hook, there probably isn't anyone there manning the phone. It was a little frustrating at times talking to Ron, he always sounded surprised ("we have a Honda Accord here?"), but during most phone calls he was quite pleasant. Zach and Sheri were also very courteous and polite on the phone. When all was said and done, replacing the starter (including some gaskets and something else), plus the cost of the tow truck, minus the 10% off Yelp check-in deal, we spent around $450 - basically a car payment, which is by far better than being strapped with monthly payments.”

Car Broke Down
“My daughter's car broke down in Naperville on a Friday evening which was nowhere close to where we live or our mechanic. I used Yelp to find a local towing company with 24 hour service. Not being familiar with the area I asked if they could recommend a repair facility and they took it to Last Chance. I got a call from Sherri first thing Saturday and she told me that they were on vacation, but would call one of their mechanics to work on our car Monday. They were able to fix the car that day and took care of several other minor issues at the same time. On top of it all their rates were extremely reasonable. This is truly unbelievable service by a company willing to go above and beyond. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area.”

“My car recently decided to make a terrible noise from the engine and worrying that it would die on my commute I drove it over to Last Chance Auto Repair to investigate. They quickly were able to diagnose that my A/C Compressor had seized up as well as there was damage to my belt. Sadly this was a relatively expensive fix, especially on a late model car but Sheri was fantastic and was able to find the part for cheapest possible and get it rushed to the garage, shipping out that same day. I had gotten a few other quotes from nearby places and they were a) much more expensive (especially since they didn't look for a cheaper compressor to buy; and b) were less accommodating and friendly as Sheri was an absolute joy to work with. My car is currently sitting in the garage now and I am very pleased with how they were able to fit me into their schedule and treated me as a human being who was having a terrible Monday morning, instead of a cash cow that they could make the most money off of. They will definitely be my go-to auto repair shop in the future.”

Chevy Tahoe Shocks
“I took my 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ in because the rear air ride shocks were not holding any air in their bags. Now I thought I did my homework on the Internet looking for these shocks which range from 550.00 to 800.00 each. Well I called Ron, the owner of Last Chance Auto Repair, and told him about a few that I researched and I needed mine replaced, he immediately advised me that I should go with an AC Delco brand and he needed to see my truck to determine which model to order. He advised that he had tried them all before realizing that this Air Ride should was of the best quality and they fit and work. To make a long story short he found the right shocks and also found a bad front barring, I knew I heard a weird noise when driving over 45 mph. Ron called and told me he would change it with a quality one. I picked my truck up and the ride is solid. Now I will say this to all those woman who are afraid of going to a auto garage without the help of a man, Ron is your man, he will take good care of you and will not hassle or rip you off. Men if you are looking for a quality service garage and want your vehicle checked out thoroughly, then I recommend that you go see Ron and lets not forget his son Corey, he's a great and friendly guy too. Forever on the road and keeping the petal to the metal, thanks to Last Change Auto Repair, your friend, Greg.......”

“This place is awesome! Drove into to their shop a few hours ago with a grinding /crackling noise coming from my alternator. The car is 14 years old, so I was expecting the worse. Initially they diagnosed the problem as the alternator, but warned me that there possibly was a problem with the water-pump as well (my heart sank into my stomach); however, they assured me that they would concentrate on the alternator first. To my amazement and relief, they texted me 2 hours later stating that the car was ready for pick-up. Fantastic! They had replaced the alternator and the was noise was gone. The cost was exactly what the quoted and I learned that all their work comes with a 90 day guarantee, unbelievable! My car runs great and from now on Last Chance is my First Option for any future auto repairs or service.”

Brakes West Out
“My brakes went out on my way to work one morning. Almost had to call off. But lucky day when called Last Chance Auto Repair for a tow service, they were there within twenty minutes. They took me directly to there auto repair shop, right to the lift. They lifted my vehicle then showed me that my brake line blew. They told me I didn't have to pay for the tow until it was fixed and I pick my vehicle later. They gave me a ride to work. How nice and sweet! I didn't have to take another day off after all. They called me later told me they repaired my brake line problem and that I was good to go. My insurance company paid me back for the tow because of my towing plan I pay for. This repair keeps getting better. Topping it off there price was excellent. They had to repair and replace two brake line sections. Picked up my vehicle after work. Thanks for all the help Last Chance! I've already told my friends at work how nice your team is.”
“Even with no coupon their price was better then everywhere else's price with their coupon. Then the family went to check out their shop to see if it was real. On the internet it shows they have been in business over twenty years. I've heard the name several times just never knew where they were at. Till we looked on the internet under brakes, brake specialists. Great warranty, better price, best quality and we learned a great deal about our family van and how to make it last. They showed us the maintenance schedule so we understood that when people write that stuff down their not out to get you. They are trying to help you get better fuel economy and make your vehicle family safe.”
Brakes Locked Up
“Last Chance Auto Repair saved the day my brakes locked up in Bolingbrook and they towed me in replaced my pads, rotors, calipers, and bearings all for cheaper then firestone quoted me for just the pads and rotors, and that was with a firestone coupon! The service was extremely friendly and they turned bad circumstances into a wonderful experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”

Fixing My Brakes
“Last Chance Auto Repair serving Plainfield, Naperville, IL, did an exceptional job fixing my brakes, and we're able to accommodate a time to come in immediately, as my brakes were completely out! The service was quick, and thorough as they made sure to inspect other brake components to ensure the problem was solved! Price was very good, as I had contacted many other local shops, and we're given extremely outrageous prices which Last Chance Auto Repair was not only willing to match, they also beat the price as well since they're willing to work with you! Besides, having great service, being thorough, & informative. Last Chance Auto Repair is also willing to share the wealth with you with a referral bonus for every job you refer them and i'm extremely confident that not only will I recommend them, I will also use them for any future job! I also found out they are ASE certified as well as had great ranking and standings with BBB! I highly recommend checking them out for a quote for any future jobs you may have for them!”

Local Repair Shop
“Friend suggested to me that this auto repair shop was great at doing brakes with a more than fair price included. Did a little research, they even have an A+ with the BBB. Got a few quotes a dodge dealer wanted 900 dollars, a local repair shop wanted 750 dollars, then I tried them they told me 630 dollars. Which included a lifetime warranty on brake pads a two year warranty on brake rotors. As long as I came back before two years was up all the parts would be free on the next brake job. The brake job went painlessly, dropped it off in the morning, got it back in the evening. It seems like they do business like clock work. No complaints for me. A bonus was that I didn't have to feed any corporate mouths on this trip. Plus they used the O.E. parts I believe in. Thanks Ron & Sherri!”

“I took my 2007 Nissan Altima to have my brakes fixed. Thought it might be a CV joint turned out to need new bearings and rotors. Price was what I had expected. The service though was excellent. I've had some clunker cars in the past and dealt with repair shops a lot. I've had places that have swindled me and made me feel stupid and I've had decent little shops that treat me like I'm a normal human being. I've finally found my auto repair go to place they treated me like a normal person not some dumb woman that doesn't know anything about cars. They filled my tires and topped all my fluids which I didn't expect. These are guys that like to work on cars. They're not out to swindle and tell you all the things you should have done. They tell you what needs to be done and what you might need down the road.”

Check out what people are saying about our transmission services!
“Ron and his team are great! About two months ago, I needed a transmission rebuild and I found a guy to do the work much cheaper than anyone else... Unfortunately, it ended up being the worst experience I've had with a shop thus far. The prior trans failed within 3 weeks and instead of honoring his 1 year warranty, he dodged me completely, stopped answering my phone calls and disappeared... A TOTAL waste of time and a lot of money. Frustrated, stranded, and in serious need of a good trans, I found Last Chance Auto and saw all the great reviews. Ron said he had a lot of experience with Honda transmission and that he'd get me back up and running. Sure enough, within 5 days the car was ready and it's been running perfectly ever since! I've been extremely satisfied with LCA (Last Chance Auto) and would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of good work. Thanks again guys!”

Trans Went Out
“When the transmission went out in my 2003 Camry with 85000 miles I shopped around and picked Last Chance. Ron quoted a fair price competitive with other independent shops and performed the work and has been running smooth for almost 3 years and 20,000 miles now.. So I have taken my Ford Econoline van my girlfriends Suzuki my daughters KIA and the Camry back in for minor and major repairs. As an airline pilot who is obsessed with knowing the details of the mechanical condition of whatever I fly and drive Ron understands that and explains in as deep and complete detail including the engineering behind what he is fixing as I want. I used to work on my own cars because I trusted NO ONE! I don't anymore because I trust Ron way more than myself. I've had two return issues. A very minor leak on the transmission which he found a seal had been pinched during install. They replaced it HASSLE FREE. The second was a noisy bearing on my Van after a repack. He discovered bad bearings and replaced the bearing no charge hassle free! He stands behind his work and knows his profession like no other! This is my family mechanic! Took me 20 years but finally found him!”

“First took my Dodge Neon to last chance a few months ago to replace the clutch. Great price, great people, especially the owner Ron. Most impressively there has been an issue after the repair was made, and Ron and his team bent over backwards to make sure it was right. He really works to take care of you until your happy.”

“This is one of the most friendly interesting auto repair shops I've ever been to. The customer service is got to be one of the best in town. They actually gave me a ride home free of charge. The only question asked was do you live close. The only downfall was that I had to wait two days to get the vehicle back. Is that a downfall, when the dealer would of had it a week. I think not! At the best auto repair shops in the world, people schedule jobs for a reason. This place excepts walk ins. But any service thats highend, quality and reasonably priced is going to get busy. How long does it take to rebuild a transmission? Some shops that I found on the internet told us up to a week and a half. I thought a down time of two days was more than fair. They gave me the rebuild estimate on the spot. Before they gave me a free ride home after the price made me so happy I threw my keys at them and started to run. Then I remembered that I needed a ride home. Opps! A lot of people these days are not educated about their vehicle or anything auto related. They without a doubt taught me a great deal about my vehicle and all about the auto industry. Everyone does things different but after this experience I learned my lesson and now I understand a lot more than I did before. How different businesses work there strategies how they suck you in. How a lot of people have to educate themselves before they talk negatively about something they don't understand. Their repair rebuild went great I didn't even have to rent another vehicle. The transmission rebuild service they did for my Toyota Camry worked out beautiful. Their standard warranty is 1 year or 12,000 miles on a rebuilt transmission. They offered a lifetime but it wasn't necessary. Great customer service very knowledgeable technicians.”

Fluid Was Low
“I thought my transmission was going, but the people at Last Chance said that although the symptoms sounded like trans, the mileage was too low for it to be that. They were right, the fluid was low and needed replacing but the trans was fine. They took it for a test drive, looked under the hood, did the computer thingie and talked to me about the vehicle and consulted with each other before deciding that all I needed was an overdue tune up. I was impressed with how friendly, professional and efficient the team of people at Last Chance was. I felt like I was letting my very own Dad evaluate and take care of my car just like my college days. The price was fair as well.”
- Nora Parkman
“First we thought the brakes were locked up so we needed a tow. Then after the tow that turned out to be free in the long run we found out something else. They connected their diagnostic scanner and concluded a different situation with the health of my vehicle. Several trans codes were in the computers history. Wow what a learning experience! I'm glad my buddy from church gave me there card and it was in my wallet. Then we found them on here and that was the least we can do. To let people no what kind of place this is. Fair budgeted price they even towed it for free. I guess they tow it for free with any major job or project. Thanks Last Chance!”

Engine Intake Leak
“I just want to say that it has been almost six months since getting my Chevy 1500 back from Last Chance Auto Repair. My truck was burning a lot of antifreeze in the cold and kept seeing a coolant low light coming on. I was adding almost a half a gallon every week. Last Chance quickly diagnosed my issue and told me the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets would need to be replaced. I had them do that work and also asked they tune up and replace any other cheap gaskets, plugs, filters etc as they were already going to be removing a big portion of my motor and I knew a tune up was due. When I got it back from them the engine sounded better, ran smoother not burning as much gas and best part of all has not burned an ounce of anti-freeze in the last 6 months. We have had some very cold days over the past few weeks and the reserve tank under the hood looks perfect! Thanks for the good work and as always I will recommend you guys to anyone!”

“Just wanted to say I was really pleased with these guys. This was my first experience with them and deffinately not my last. I needed some cylinder head repair and the heads came out great! Ron really does great work. Ron, his son, and his wife were a pleasure to deal with! It's nice having an actual "mom and pop" shop in the area at a good price. Thanks again I highly reccomend them! -Scott”

“I took a 2002 Windstar van to be serviced after failing emissions test in Joliet and for some other performance related issues like check engine light on and van pretty much running like crap. The mechanics at last chance not only correctly diagnosed and fixed the emissions issues which were due to leaking intake manifold gasket and 2 vacuum hose issues but also found many other things that needed fixing like leaking power steering hose due to a previous mechanic using wrong type of hose. They also found small wires going back to ECU from engine to be corroded and causing electrical codes to be thrown due to shorts, the holes in wires where they were corroded was from a previous repair shop I took it to probing wires while troubleshooting but not capping off holes with epoxy and tape. These guys at Last Chance found 7 bad wires that they showed me were majorly damaged and had green corrosion coming out of the holes where they were probed. These repairs did cost me way more than I wanted to but Ron the owner worked out a great deal with me and I feel it was totally fair for the amount of h ours they spent fixing the van. Now that I have it back it runs like brand new, check engine light is off idles great and best part is that it finally passed the stupid government emissions test/shakedown!”

Way Overdue Service
“Wow we were way overdue for a servicing check up and was worried about taking my car in somewhere. We didn't know where to go, we searched for a long time. Till we felt good about one that we found on Yelp. One of our fears is that they would of told us that we had a zillion problems. Luckily for me, Ron at Last Chance gave us the straight talk and told us exactly what was going on and told us what needed to be fixed immediately vs what could wait a while. Thanks for the service! We just moved from a distance away, so we weren't sure were to go. The internet is a great learning tool. It helps us all learn which auto repair shops could be good who to watch out for. This is the first shop we've found online, no more books for us! We are very happy and pleased with the way things turned out. Also the money we saved doesn't hurt at all it actually put a little more cheer in our holidays. Two thumbs way up.”

They looked at it right away, turns out my fuel pump went bad. They explained heat plus running it low on gas puts a little extra strain on my pump, probably the whole reason it went bad. They changed it and also the fuel filter. The lines were rotted to the filter so they replaced a few lines also. Price was okay. I called around there price was cheaper, job came with a 1 yr warranty, couldn’t ask for a more fair service. Unless I could of found a free fuel pump coupon, which I couldn’t. Customer Lobby Reviews: “Last Chance Auto Repair is excellent! I’ve been doing business there ever since I moved to Bolingbrook. They’re always decent. Ron, the owner, is my neighbor, and I met him when I first moved in, and that’s all I needed when deciding who to take my car to. I will always use Last Chance. They’re super people.” Reviewed By: Rick K.
